This is the SUPERLIFT 2.5 Inch suspension lift kit for the 1986-1992 Jeep Comanche MJ – Both 4WD & 2WD models. These Jeep Comanches are real 4x4 icons and a cool part of the Jeep tribe.
This SUPERLIFT system is designed for the 1986-1992 Jeep Comanche MJ owners looking to gain ground clearance, to sit level and wheel travel flexibility. Our K370 for 1986-1992 Jeep Comanche MJ address all of your lift kit needs in terms of product quality, durability, craftsmanship, and price. It includes everything you need to lift your Cherokee MJ – no other parts are required.
Maintains awesome ride quality, handling characteristics and aligns to OEM specifications. The K369 geometry corrects front to rear factory rake delivering a level stance. Proper driveshaft angles are maintained; aligns with OEM specifications.
The 1986-1992 Jeep Comanche MJ has a uni-body chassis: It doesn’t have a separate steel frame with a body on top. The front suspension is a solid axle with coil springs and a 4-link assembly. In basic form, there are 4-link bars mounted from the axle to the frame holding the axle in place: 2-links holding the axle from moving front to back and 2-links used to locate the axle from side-to-side. The rear suspension is a solid axle with leaf springs.
SUPERLIFT engineers develop these 2.5-inch front lift coil springs. The result is the best ride and handling characteristics of any 2.5-inch lift coil available. They’re pre-set to reduce fatigue in the steel, minimize settling and guarantee a consistent ride height. Shot-peened to increase tensile strength and allow maximum wheel travel without sacrificing the life of the springs.
As ride height is increased, the length of certain axle-to-frame suspension links must also be increased (and/or link attachments point relocated) to address castor angles loss at the front axle. SUPERLIFT includes two (2) lower replacement links. These heavy-duty, thick wall links are fixed length with grease-able polyurethane bushings at each end. They are a simple R&R (Remove the factory & Replace with SUPERLIFT) item.
In the rear, SUPERLIFT provides an add-a-leaf and bend clips. These long add-a-leafs install directly beneath the main leaf (the longest leaf in the leaf spring pack with the mounting eyes at each end). Since the strength is added along the spring’s full-length, this positioning is most beneficial for combating spring/axle wrap-up. This positioning also allows a relatively thin material so ride quality is not harsh: only slightly firmer overstock due to the arch /lift height of the add-a-leaf.
Most vehicles are equipped with fairly thick, riveted-on wraps that hold the leaf spring leafs together. SUPERLIFT includes a set of one-time use leaf spring bend clip alignment clamp in this kit. These notched dimple cross-strap bend clips will keep the spring in alignment after the add-a-leaf is installed.
Included in this system is a set of four (4) Superlift hydraulic shocks absorbers. Superlift shock absorbers are designed to provide excellent ride quality, durability and longevity. They feature 10-stage, velocity-sensitive valving for maximum control on or off-road without sacrificing a comfortable ride. Shock resistance is continually adjusted, depending on the terrain and vehicle speed.
- Direct bolt-on design that requires zero welding and no cutting. Includes detailed instructions suitable for do-it-yourselfers (DIY) or for installers alike. This is a Super-EZ install.
- Front: Coil springs, tubular front lower control/link arms; polyurethane bushings (8) & metal sleeves (4) for the link arms; Superlift Shocks (2).
- Rear: Add-a-leafs (2), tie bolts & nuts (2), leaf spring bend clip alignment clamps (2) pair & Superlift Shocks (2).
NOTE: If equipped with light duty double offset joint front driveshaft (rubber boot at transfer case end), It must be replaced with Spicer type as used on 4.0 liter in-line 6 cylinder models.
